#WCW Inspiration - Alicia Hickey

How would you describe your style?

I would describe my style as casual. I am all about comfort! My style varies from cute dresses to jeans and band tees. My biggest thing is that I want to be comfortable no matter if I'm dressed up or dressed down.

What are your staple items? Is there something that you couldn't live without?

Currently my staple item is my jean jacket. I've probably worn it every day for the last couple weeks since these spring days aren't too warm yet. My other staple item that works year round would be basic pieces. I feel like basics go with everything from patterns to other solids. They also pair expertly with jewelry to dress the outfit up a bit.

When you wake up in the morning, how do you decide what you're going to wear?

Honestly it differs between the work week and the weekend. Work days I usually wake up and pick something comfortable and work appropriate. So most of those days comfort beats out style for sure. On the weekends I tend to dress according to the weather and my mood. I guess mood is probably the biggest factor in what I wear. Some days I just don't feel like being all dolled up but then other days I want to look bomb and make all the boys drool, you know?

Are there any inspirations for your style?

Instagram is a huge source for fashion these days so I definitely see new trends and styles daily and I get ideas from posts like that. Some of the accounts I follow are What I Wore, Seamingly (Duh!), and Thrifted Sisters. I have very stylish friends as well so I get a lot of inspiration from them! Also, over the years I have found the appropriate fits and styles for my body type so when I shop I mostly go straight for pieces that I know will flatter my figure.

What do you feel most comfortable wearing?

I feel most comfortable in dresses because they are typically loose and flowy. I feel like dresses are very versatile too. You can dress them up or down depending on the occasion but overall I feel like you still benefit from the comfort.

What are your favorite brands/stores?

My favorite brands/stores are Forever 21 and H&M. They are very up to date with the trends and are completely affordable. They both offer your "younger" styles as well as your more sophisticated styles, which works well for me because I have to dress business casual at work but on the weekends I want to dress more trendy. Thrifting and shops like Thrifted Sisters on Instagram and Etsy are also places that I love to hit up to fulfill my love for vintage clothing and accessories.

What accessories do you always seem to pair with your outfits? (watches, etc.)

I am almost exclusively a ring gal. I love all kinds of rings. Real rings, fake rings, giant rings, midi rings, you name it and I love it.   I will also don a necklace or two occasionally if the outfit permits.

What advice do you have for other ladies that would like to achieve a similar style?

The only advice I have for someone wanting to achieve a similar style as me is keep it simple and if you think it looks good, just rock it!

Is there a favorite color that you always end up incorporating into your outfit? (i.e. you always end up wearing a lot of black or blue)

I wear a lot of black and earthy tones. Even if the entire piece isn't dark it most likely has dark/earthy tones incorporated into it. I honestly couldn't tell you why I gravitate towards darks earthy tones other than I just feel that they look best on me.

If we could go through your family photos and see a photo documentary of your style phases, which style phase would be the most embarrassing? We’ve all had them!

OH man! I feel like my best worst style phase would have to have been my 7th and 8th grade style. I wore a weird mix of department store brands and shell toed Adidas or Phat Farm shoes and chain necklaces that I would get from the boy I was "dating" that week. I looked so ridiculous.
