#MCM Style Inspiration: Leon Tran
How would you describe your style?
A little classy while still casual. Enough to give a professional look while stile remaining comfortable.
What are your staple items? Is there something that you couldn't live without?
Jackets! I like to emphasize accessories and jackets are a way to add some style to an outfit. Plus I get cold easily, so jackets are a must.
When you wake up in the morning, how do you decide what you're going to wear?
Weather usually plays a big part. I also like to match according to the seasons. If I have something to do, I like to dress nicer because it gives me a confidence boost.
Are there any inspirations for your style?
I follow quite a few fashion accounts on Instagram but the biggest inspiration would be GQ. Their "What to Wear Today" posts always give me ideas for new outfits.
What do you feel most comfortable wearing?
Crewnecks because v-necks have too much airflow. I also feel like they don't look right on me.
What are your favorite brands/stores?
I really like J. Crew, Banana Republic, and Frank & Oak. I think them because they cater more towards my style most of the time. Frank & Oak is less expensive but still good quality. They all also carry clothes that fit my body type.
What accessories do you always seem to pair with your outfits? (watches, etc.)
Wrist-wear! Always wrist-wear. My wrists always feel naked without them. It's also just a good way to flare up an outfit.
What advice do you have for other guys that would like to achieve a similar style?
Get clothes that are easy to pair with other things. It minimizes cost and makes your wardrobe more cohesive. It also helps you create more of a signature look. I like it when people can see items and say "Oh that looks like something Leon would wear!"
Do you have any style icons?
David Beckham is basically everything I want to be in life.
Is there a favorite color that you always end up incorporating into your outfit? (i.e. you always end up wearing a lot of black or blue)
Dark colors. I think that they go with my skin tone much better than other colors do. I wear a lot of navy. Navy, navy, navy.
If we could go through your family photos and see a photo documentary of your style phases, which style phase would be the most embarrassing? We’ve all had them!
I would wear plaid cargo shorts and graphic tees, all Abercrombie & Fitch. This was like up until sophomore year of high school. I have no idea how I thought that looked good. I will never touch cargo shorts again. Never.
